Other observations
This is the second earliest known painting in what became his favourite size and orientation.
This is one of only three known paintings away from the house. With most of Harry Brooker's paintings featuring indoor scenes, there are about six or so paintings of scenes in the back yard or garden, but only four feature scenes in the country.
The children could be Ruth (now aged 5) and Charles (age 2) in the box with
Edwin (now aged 4) pushing. One of Oswald and Edgar is pushing with the other
squatting further down the path attending to his shoes. Assuming that the children
featured are Harry and Edmee's then this is the earliest painting featuring
all five of their then children. Elsie (no 6) was not born till 1894.
