Other observations
The scene is similar to Too Old To Play 1888" with an older boy, probably
Oswald again (now aged 8) sitting reading by the window. This time however the
children are no longer asking for him to play but getting on with it without
him. Edwin (now aged 5) is the centre of the action with a pot of (something)
on the upturned high chair (which features in many of Harry's paintings). Ruth
is looking on with a friend whilst Charles sitting on the floor, with drinking
from a mug or pretending to do so.
The green table cloth on the table against the wall behind Oswald also features
in many paintings.
