Other observations
This is the fifth known of a series of at least seven paintings of the same
size and orientation, painted between 1883 and 1887.
The girl in the box is probably Ruth (now aged 4) and the boy viewed from behind could be Edwin (now aged 3). The older boy could either be Oswald (now aged 6) or Edgar (now aged 7).
Ruth is holding a doll, which may have featured in an earlier painting Teatime
1884.
